The first achievement of Smart Bangladesh will be creating a cashless society
The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said that the first achievement of Smart Bangladesh will be a paper-moneyless society. Digitization has brought about an incredible transformation in financial transactions since 2009. The government is working to establish a cashless Bangladesh with the establishment of digital banks.
The minister stated so while speaking as the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony of the mobile financial service Nagad Mega Payment Campaign of the postal department at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday night.
Mentioning that citizens of smart Bangladesh must also be smart, he said, for smartness we must acquire digital skills. We cannot survive in the future world without digital skills.
Mustafa Jabbar, the pioneer of digital technology development, said that mobile phones are now not only talking devices, but apart from financial transactions, women in remote villages are also doing outsourced work starting from vegetable trade. As a result of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary Digital Bangladesh program, the country is today a role model for development in the world.
Stating that Nagad has made people's lives easier, the minister said that Nagad is a name for the progress of the postal department. Nagad has been surprising people since its inception, in continuation of that surprise, today Nagad handed over the BMW. Minister congratulated BMW winner Mahbub.
Tanveer A Mishuk, founder and managing director of Nagad, said the BMW campaign was by no means an ordinary campaign. In my opinion this campaign was a big step towards Smart Bangladesh. I believe that this campaign will create a unique position in establishing a cashless society in Bangladesh.
Palawan Mahbub Haider of Dhaka won the Nagad BMW from the top of the list by getting 4 lakh 73 thousand 27 votes. Sylvia Yasin of Chattogram who was in second place got 4 lakh 11 thousand 813 votes. Saidur Rahman Sohel of Cox's Bazar was in the third position by getting 3 lakh 34 thousand 99 votes.
In the ceremony, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications handed over the keys of the BMW car to the winner Palawan Mahbub Haider.
Executive Director of Nagad Safayet Alam, actor Ananta Jalil and actress Barsha were present on the occasion. Three national team cricketers Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim congratulated the participants and winners of the campaign in a video message.
